Gregor Turk

Trumpeter Gregor Turk (Postojna, 1989) began studying trumpet with eight years at prof. Milivoj Matkovič at the Music School in Postojna. He continued his education with prof. Franc Žugelj at the Music and Ballet High School in Ljubljana. He graduated in the trumpet class of prof. Stanko Arnold at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. He is a solo trupet player at SNG Opera and Ballet Ljubljana.

Gregor has perfected his musical knowledge at seminars and summer schools with professors Stanko Arnold, Anton Grčar, Bo Nilson, Allen Vizzutti and James Thompson. As a soloist he performed with the Symphonic Orchestra of Coastal Music Schools, Symphonic Orchestra of Music and Ballet High School Ljubljana, Symphonic Orchestra of Academy of Music in Ljubljana and Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra. He won five gold plaques, three first and two second prizes and special awards for achieving 100 points, for the most promising young musician and award for best compulsory piece performance at the competitions of young Slovenian artists. In 2007 he participated at the international competition in Novi Sad and won gold plaques and special awards for 100 points in categories of trumpet and cornet. Gregor Turk got Skerjanc award of Ballet High School Ljubljana 2008, Students Prešeren award and the  Yamaha Music Fundation of Europe 2009 scholarship.
