Uroš Vegelj

Tubist Uroš Vegelj was born in 1987 in Brežice. He attended the High School of Music in Maribor. In 2014 he completed his master's studies at the Academy of Music at doc. Darko Rošker with honors. He continued his education at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich in the class of Josef Steinbock. He is a recipient of the Student Prešeren Award of the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. He participates in SNG Maribor Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Orchestra SNG Ljubljana, the Slovenian Philharmonic Orchestra and Festival Maribor Orchestra. He is also a member of the Brass Quintet Contrast, which released their first CD last year and has received numerous awards at home and abroad (first prize and gold medal at the Temsig Competition, first prize at the Svirel International Competition, absolute winners of Jan Koetsier Competition in Munich, first prize at the international competition "Giovani Musicisti Treviso"). He also joined the members of the brass quintet Emona Brass. In 2016 he became an assistant at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana - scope tuba. He is currently employed at the Conservatory of Music and Ballet Ljubljana and at the Music School Črnomelj.
